François Hirsch graduated in Immunology in the Institut Pasteur and in Science and medical ethics from Paris-Sud university. He is Research Director at the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (Inserm) in Paris. He spent 3 years as Seconded National Expert at the Unit 'Governance and Ethics' in the Directorate General for Research of the European Commission, in Brussels where he helped in organising the ethics review of proposals within the 7th framework program. Back to Inserm, he was Deputy Director of the Office for Clinical Research and Head of Secretariat of the Inserm Ethics committee. Recently, he moved to the Institute for Health Technologies in the French National Alliance for Health Sciences where he is in charge for regulatory and ethics, and for the relations with Inserm’s teams.
